WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR SERVICE:

While we continue to take COVID-19 very seriously, we understand the role of the church to hold the Word of God as our supreme instruction. We want to follow Hebrews 10:25, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” At North Star Church in Hibbing, we value the health and well-being of those who worship with us. Our goal is to continue to improve in all that we do, seeking excellence in our habits and actions, while serving those God has called us to. None of us have experience in handling a global pandemic and all that goes along with it. We do know that it did not catch God off guard, and He will continue to guide us! Our heart’s desire is to continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus and equip the church to handle whatever God asks of us. Leaders can demonstrate that they are taking seriously the facts of the situation and keeping the best interests of the community in mind. At the same time, they can model a response that is faithful, gracious, and wise; trusting God in all things, extending compassion and grace to those who are suffering, while praying for the healing of the world.

With these things in mind, North Star Church of Hibbing will begin to meet on Sunday mornings at 11:30 am OUTDOORS on our church grounds.  We will need you to bring your own camp or folding chair for seating, and also your own food and beverages. We have labored in prayer over this decision, and know it is the Lord’s will, and of utmost importance that we worship collectively in this season. (If it rains, we will continue with our service indoors!)

We begin our services with prayer and time of worship music, followed by a message from God’s Word. Our services run about 70 minutes long between teaching, praying, and singing praises. CHILDREN’S CHURCH is also provided for kids 4-4th grade! (We continue to socially distance children to the best of our ability!) We do not provide nursery at this time.

• With reports about the spread of the coronavirus (or COVID-19), we want you to know
that the health of our community is of utmost concern to the pastor, elders, and leaders of this congregation. We are doing all that we can to stay current with public health guidelines, follow best practices for hygiene, and exercise an abundance of caution and care in responding to this situation.

• Worshipers are always encouraged to participate, or not, according to their comfort, conscience, and condition. Other worshipers should honor these decisions and refrain from making judgment or taking offense. Please continue to follow social distancing guidelines when we gather, no matter what your belief is on that subject.

• Use common sense and your best judgment in protecting your own health and the health of others. Reduce unnecessary travel, touch, and contact to avoid placing yourself or others at greater risk. If you are feeling ill or have recently experienced symptoms of an infectious disease, we ask that you stay home from public events and/or keep a safe distance from others to limit contagion.

• If you decide to stay home from worship or other events due to illness, please find ways to stay in touch — through prayer circles, small groups, ministry teams, social media, or emails and phone calls. We don’t want to create situations where those who are ill also feel lonely, isolated or outcast. We want to pray for you and provide other forms of assistance and care as needed.

• Let us be faithful and vigilant in our prayer for those nations, communities, families and individuals most affected by this outbreak, and for the medical personnel and government officials seeking to respond. Let us resist and reject fear and suspicion based on ethnicity or nationality; this virus is affecting people of all races and ages.

• Above all, let us remember and rejoice that “nothing in life or in death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 8:38–39).

Staying united as a church is imperative, as a house divided falls. In all this, put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, and against the powers, against the world forces of darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:13

Don’t allow the devil come in and divide us on whether we are opening or staying closed. It is OK for us to disagree on that issue. It can unite us even stronger under Christ if we have differences on how we handle this situation and still move forward together. This will show our love for one another and maintaining the unity God created.  We all need to extend great grace through these trying times of so many unknowns.  We can turn to the ever-present God who will keep us grounded and levelheaded through this, and everyday moving forward, in these historic times.
